Emily A. Copeland Endowed Scholarship

Seven Florida A&M University Library Science Graduates organized the Emily A. Copeland Scholarship Fund on May 5, 1988 in Miami, Florida while attending the Annual Florida Library Association conference. The Librarians established the fund under the name of Emily A. Copleland as a tribute to a well deserving educator. Miss Copeland was the Department Chairman of Library Science from 1951 to 1976. Students must have an overall minimum 2.50 GPA and a major field of study GPA of 2.50. Students must be in the College of Education and fully admitted to Teacher Education. Students must submit an essay answering the following questions: “What is my primary goal in life and why am I a candidate for this scholarship?” Students must be an active member of a professional organization. Students should have cleared a Level II background check. Students must have documented evidence of financial need. Students should have a desire to teach in Florida three to five years after graduation.
