The Prempeh/Poe HBCU College Scholarship and Fund
The Fund was founded and established by Dr. Jabari V. Prempeh (AKA, Dr. James V. Poe, Jr.) and in the memory of his Late Wife, Bertha Coleman Poe (1947-2020). This Fund will be a perpetual one starting with $300,000. The fund will benefit students entering Alabama State University and Florida A.M. University. The students must have a 2.5 or higher GPA and their ACT should be at least 25. Also, the Grant Funds will be awarded to college young men and young women who are seeking membership in either the Omega Psi Phi fraternity or the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Undergrads and graduate applicants can apply.
The Board of Directors may decide to share scholarship funds with students that will attend other family Universities such as, Tuskegee University, Central State University, Tennessee State University, Alabama A & M University, Miles College, and Spellman College. Dr Jabari V. Prempeh is a 1966 graduate of FAMU and the Late Bertha Poe was a graduate of Alabama State University in 1967. Dr. Prempeh was the Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s president of the Alumni Council (TMCF); twice president of the FAMU NAA Detroit Chapter, also the Vice President of the Midwest Region and Delegate at Large. In Omega, he has held national, District, State, and Chapter Leadership positions. Applications are available on our Website. Applications will be reviewed starting Spring semester in January 2024. Scholarships will be awarded for the fall semester 2024. Please apply.College applicants must submit our applications. Devine Nine (9) applicants must submit a copy of their fraternity/sorority application before the intake process starts. Those granted funds for college will not get less than $1,000. those who are chosen for a Devine Nine Grant will not get less than $500.
