Althea Gibson Endowed Scholarship

Dr. William H. Cosby, Jr. and Camille Olivia Cosby established this endowment in honor of one of FAMU’s acclaimed graduates. Ms. Gibson has the distinction of winning two Wimbledon singles titles, two U. S. Opens and a French Open, in the late 1950’s; feats that all Americans were proud to witness. Her accomplishments paved the way for future African-American tennis players. This scholarship is to support students studying physical education, recreation, and health, which were Ms. Gibson’s disciplines at Florida A&M University.
